Port Byron CSD boys and girls cross country teams performed well
at the league championship meet held at Highland Forest in Fabius
on Oct. 25.
The girls team finished second and the boys finished first.
The girls were led by Haley Yorkey in sixth place
at 21:33.4, Hannah Yorkey in seventh place at
21:36.1, Corrine Stevens in 16th place (22:46.5),
Molly Yorkey in 21st place (22:55.8),
Chelsea Rooker in 26th place (23:39.1), Allie
WIlmot in 28th place (23:55.7), and Allayna
DIllon in 30th place (24:03.4).
Haley and Hannah earned a place on the 1st Team All-League team,
Corrine a place on the Second Team All-League team, and Molly was
named Honorable Mention.
The boys team was anchored by Ben York's third
place finish in 16:52.8, Michael Schumacher's
fourth place finish in 17:09.3, and Braden York's
fifth place in 17:10.0. Also running strong for the Panthers was
Jon Jackson in 7th place (17:27.9), Jakob
Dillon in 14th (18:31.6), Tad Patterson
in 24th (19:27.5), and Robert Thompson in 28th
(20:04.5).
Ben, Michael, Braden, and Jon each earned a spot on the First Team
All-League Team, while Jakob earned an Honorable Mention.
Both teams compete in the Section 3 Championship meet on Saturday,
Nov. 4 at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.
