Class of 2018 Senior Spotlight: Kassandra May Cioffa

Port Byron Central School District senior Kassandra (Kasey) Cioffa is looking forward to her next adventure.

This fall, Kasey will continue her education at the collegiate level at SUNY Cortland. She has not yet committed to a field of study.

"I hope to meet new people and gain new perspectives," Kasey said. “Ten years from now, I hope to be out of college and doing something that I love."

During her time at Dana L. West Junior/Senior High School, Kassandra participated in several programs including Drama Club, Musical Theatre Intensive (via Merry-Go-Round Playhouse) and was an Honors Choir member.

She said her favorite class was choir and joining Drama Club positively enhanced her middle and high school experiences.

"It helped shape me into the person I am today," Kassandra said.

Her favorite Port Byron memories include traveling to Washington, D.C. for an eighth-grade class trip and performing on stage in the district’s drama productions. She said she won’t miss waking up early for school, but will miss the friendships she’s made during her time at Port Byron.

"I’m sad to be leaving high school, but am ready to start the next chapter in my life," she said.

As she looks back on the past several years, Kassandra said she owes much of her success to her parents.

"They are my role models," she said. "They always pushed me to work hard and always supported me."

This summer, she plans to travel with friends and spend time with her family, which includes parents, James and Robin, and sisters, Madison, Carolynn, Stephanie and Alex.

Port Byron CSD is pleased to announce the return of “Senior Spotlight.” This weekly website series highlights the accomplishments and future plans of several graduating Dana L. West Junior/Senior High School students. They were selected for the series by school administrators based on their demonstration of excellence in the classroom and community.
