Tanner and Sanchez are Heading to the NYS Wrestling Championship

The road to Albany looks a little different for everyone — but the goal is the same.
This weekend, members of the JE/PB/US/CM combined wrestling team will take the mat at the New York State Wrestling Championships in Albany, ready to compete against the very best in New York State.
Junior Mason Tanner returns to the state tournament at 118 pounds for the third time in his career — and he’s no stranger to the podium. Mason has placed 3rd at states two years in a row, proving he belongs among the elite. As a sophomore, he captured a sectional title and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler after defeating the returning state champion — a statement win that showcased his grit and big-match ability.
Now, Mason has his sights set even higher. With goals of becoming a state champion and wrestling at the collegiate level, he continues to push himself to new heights. Experience, determination, and belief are all on his side.
At 175 pounds, senior Glen Sanchez is making his first trip to the state tournament — and he’s earned it. Glen is coming off an outstanding season, highlighted by winning his class at sectionals. His steady improvement, hard work, and determination have carried him to this moment. In his final high school season, he’ll step onto the biggest stage ready to compete and make the most of the opportunity.
They won’t be alone. Two other wrestlers from the JE/PB/US/CM combined team have also qualified, making it a strong showing for the program. Each wrestler enters the tournament based on their seeding, but once the whistle blows, anything can happen. Every one of them has a chance.
Different paths. Same mission.
Go win, boys — we are rooting for you all the way!
